Aquila Flight Simulator Operator

AQUILA Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) was formed in 2014 as a joint venture between National Air Traffic Services (NATS), air navigations services specialist and Thales, the primary supplier of equipment and services for UK Air Traffic Management (ATM).
AQUILA was awarded the £1.5 billion Project Marshall contract by the MoD in 2014. The programme will provide military terminal Air Traffic Management (ATM) capability which ensures that all flights are safely and efficiently managed and sequenced for take-off and landing.
AQUILA currently employs over 200 people, predominantly in the UK but also includes locations in Gibraltar, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands. It operates from the AQUILA Head Office, based in Whiteley, Fareham, Hampshire.
Located at the Defence College of Air and Space Operations at RAF Shawbury the AQUILA Flight Simulator Operator supports the School of Air Operations Control in delivering quality Air Traffic Controllers for the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Foreign and Commonwealth personnel. Within Air Traffic simulators the Flight Simulator Operator (FSO), using PCs, replicates the type of Air Traffic Control scenarios that a future military Air Traffic Controller is likely to meet, either in a Radar or Airfield situation.
Suitable applicants will be required to undertake and pass a computer-based assessment prior to being offered a Job Interview.
Create and execute realistic Air Traffic Management scenarios through effective operation of PC based simulators.
Work as part of a team with a high dependency on effective liaison and planning.
Respond effectively to requested scenarios within individual training exercises.
Maintain effective communications.
Work constructively with other members of the Flight Simulator Operator department and our customer.
Be an articulate and effective communicator in the English language (the international Air Traffic language).
The ability to multi task.
Able to use initiative and solve problems in a timely manner.
Enthusiastic with a willingness and aptitude to learn.
Willingness to undergo Security Clearance.
Reliable with excellent time-management skills.
A positive team-working ethic.
Advantageous but not essential to have experience or an understanding of Military Air Traffic Management.
A flexible willingness to adapt and adjust to a changing work environment.
Willingness to learn and to work with a diverse range of people at all levels.
