L’Activité Mondiale Systèmes de Transport Terrestre fournit des solutions de signalisation ferroviaire pour les grandes lignes et les transports urbains, des systèmes intégrés de communication et de supervision, des solutions billettiques et les services associés.

Thales fournit des systèmes de commande de trains par télécommunications (CBTC) et des systèmes d’enclenchement destinés au secteur des transports en commun sur voie ferrée à l'échelle mondiale. Le centre de compétences pour la signalisation ferroviaire urbaine est situé au centre-ville de Toronto. Nous sommes le plus grand bureau situé au Canada et nous disposons d’un service pour chaque étape du cycle de vie du développement logiciel (SDLC). Cela comprend le logiciel, le matériel, la conception des systèmes, la vérification et la validation, les opérations, etc. Les équipes de services partagés dans les domaines des finances, des ressources humaines et des technologies de l’information sont également situées sur ce site. This includes Software, Hardware, Systems Design, Verification & Validation, Operations, etc. The supporting corporate shared services teams in Finance, Human Resources and IT is also located at the office. General Mission:

  • Lead the process tailoring of the Management System related to Safety activities and demonstrate its overall maturity, consistency and deployment in cooperation with Quality
  • Is fully knowledgeable of applicable Railway Standards, their evolution and impact on the discipline
  • Ensure Competence Management to guarantee the best level of discipline competitiveness
  • Provide a conduit for the sharing of state-of-the-art knowledge across the discipline
  • Is responsible for capitalizing on the discipline’s lessons learned
  • Monitor and ensure appropriate resource allocation to Bids, Projects and Products (workload, work environment and skills)
  • Consolidate  the Safety and Validation part of the bids
  • Ensure that all aspects of the discipline are controlled and stable all along lifecycle phases of Bids and Projects (through KPIs and reports)

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the maturity assessment of TCTS Safety in alignment with Group governance rule
  • Ensure the writing of and approve Safety and Validation processes against international regulatory standards (e.g. CENELEC, AREMA…), the Thales Safety policy and the Thales Safety target
  • Ensure deployment of Safety processes, practices and tools
  • Is member of the Quality led Discipline Steering Committee and contribute to the overall consistency of the Management System
  • Provide support to the corresponding Head of Quality in order to contribute to the maturity of the overall organization
  • Participate to the Management of Standards and manage impacts of standards’ evolution on TCTS safety processes
  • Support and coach Engineers on defined process, practices and tools
  • Analyze skills and coordinate related development actions (recruitment, training, coaching, mobility)
  • Manage all Safety related Ambition Boost initiatives as a project (budget, resources, Performance Initiatives tracking with related KPI, milestones follow-up, etc.), in particular the Safety Transformation Plan (to improve the above KPI)
  • Capitalize and share knowledge; Manage Lessons learned; Monitor the continuous improvement loop
  • Set up and monitor TCTS Safety workload and skills allocation on Bids, Products and Projects
  • Track the TCTS Safety’s key indicators related to its ability to deliver timely and relevant Safety artifacts
  • Consolidate the Safety and the Validation part of Bids (cost, schedule, risks)
  • Issue a Safety Discipline Dashboard that tracks progress of the aforementioned topics for TCTS Safety

Key Requirements:

  • College or university graduate preferably with a Degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years working experience in managing Engineering, Technical or Project development organization 
  • Railway Industry experience (or similar) to understand the context for the job function : complex system development
  • Experience in leading transformational activities (process/practice, tools, behavior)
