About us

The development of modern Naval/Radar systems requires a multi-disciplinary approach in which the functional concept, the mechanical, the electronics, the electrical and cooling infrastructure are addressed simultaneously. In this multi-disciplinary team, the working area consists of the development of new mechanical concepts, introduction of new technologies and development of new Naval Radar and Combat systems. Within the Mechanical and Electrical department also the Environmental Competence Centre (Thales-ECC) is located. The Thales-ECC is a team of approximately 15 FTE’s. All the activities have a very dynamic character. You will have to develop yourself to become familiar with these activities. This knowledge center is specialized in the Climate, Mechanical and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) environmental requirements. Besides a group of engineering experts, the Thales-ECC has its own accredited test laboratory (ISO17025). For the Thales-ECC department we are looking for a:

About the job

Your prime job responsibility is to prepare EMC test programs, advise customers, translating EMC standards into specific tests, define EMC processes and secure our EMC accreditation scope (L240,

You realize this by having meetings with internal and external customers, understanding their needs and translate these into proposals. You will advise customers to define EMC plans before testing. You specify the required tests to meet the needs of our customers. You will prepare, the required tests, and support the test engineer performing the tests in line with the final test plan. You will analyze and report the test results. Depending on the test results, you will need to communicate these with the customers and analyze and discuss the situation and or potential solutions. In some cases, testing is not needed or possible. In those situations, an analysis report needs to be made.

In a number of occasions meetings and or tests need to be performed on location of the customer, which requires traveling and overnight stays.

Also changes in international test standards needs to be recognized, analyzed and implemented into our tests and processes.

Thales-ECC works conform the ISO17025. So, you will need to read and understand the rules and processes. Thales-ECC has therefore its own handbook in line with this ISO.

About you

  • Requested education is HBO/WO with technical background (Higher vocational education, university education);

  • Willing to study and learn all aspects of EMC testing on Thales products as well as products from other companies;

  • You are pragmatic and like to work with your hands as well doing computer work;

  • You are able to translate requirements towards a test program of the product;

  • Able to validate designs parameters on prototypes;

  • Define engineering tests, test protocols, during the design phase (concepts) of our products. Goal here is to prevent the design from issues later in the process;

  • Analyse these test results and communicate this with the design team;

  • Write analyses and test reports;

  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, pro-active and committed;

  • Good communication skills; you speak Dutch and English. German proficiency is an advantage;

  • You are a team player and consider it a challenge to run test programs within tight timeframes;

  • You are prepared to travel.
