About the job

Bid Management leads the bid activities throughout the bid lifecycle to the satisfaction of the different stakeholders. Their responsibilities include leading bid activities throughout the bid process in an international and multicultural setting to ensure the success of profitable growth in Thales.

As Bid Manager you are responsible for preparing offers based on commitments validated by all Work Package Managers and preparing the initial project baseline which will be transferred to the Project Manager. He/she manages and coordinates internal and external dedicated teams (including the partners, subcontractors and supply chain) in collaboration with the permanent organisation of the entity, and is responsible for closing the bid and ensuring the smooth transition to the Project Manager.

As Bid Manager you have the responsibility to:

Support the sales organisation in its success and create winning bids. Contributes to preparing the bid and support/contribute to negotiations with the Customer. Deliver the proposal based on - and contribute in the development of - the win themes, hot buttons, value propositions and positive discriminators. Manage the bid according the Chorus Manage Bid process and manage internal/external teams and safeguard the timeline of the bid. Lead the bid activities throughout the bid lifecycle:

  • Defines the initial project baseline based on a viable solution and project structure regarding the customer requirements and Company strategy/policy.
  • Launches the solution oriented phase, organises and plans the future project
  • Based on the initial project baseline, defines major milestones for delivery and acceptance, consolidates costs and validates the whole project baseline for the bid.
  • Creates and validates the bid based on the stakeholders’ commitment, by managing risks and opportunities of the future project.

Secure the consistency of the Proposal with the Bid Baseline, Customer requirements (RFQ) and Compliancy Statements, Assumptions, Cost, Risks, and present and obtain approval in the internal peer review process. Deliver an agreed and authorised cost estimation (Total Cost At Completion) including managed risks & opportunities and financial costs Ensure successful and smooth transition of the bid to the project manager and contribute to preparing, organising and validating the project launch. Contribute to closing the bid (archiving of documents, closing of the expenditure authorisations) by capitalising and sharing on enterprise experience (lessons learnt).

About you

You have proven experience with working in an international environment and affinity with high-tech products. As Bid Manager you:

  • Have relevant experience in Bid & Proposal Management of (complex) proposals;
  • You have strong management skills and experience in high tech industry or similar;
  • Have the ability to overlook complex situations and to manage multi-task environments;
  • You are a team player with strong dedication to achieve common team goals;
  • You are an enthusiastic and persistent personality with good communication skills;
  • Are strong in motivating and structuring stakeholders of all levels;
  • You have a “can-do” mentality: entrepreneurial, flexible and open minded;
  • APMP certification is a plus
